Gilda’s Club is a community organization for people living with cancer, their families and friends. The club was named in tribute to comic actress Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989. Gilda’s Club of North Texas came to Commotion Interactive with a desire to focus their digital presence in order to capture a larger audience.
Once we understood the people they were trying to reach it allowed us to make informed decisions going into the design strategy. We looked at focusing on the informal and friendly environment of care they provide for cancer victims and their families.
This led to using a metaphor of a tree house on the customized home page with a mix of illustrated components to complete the site navigation.
Ultimately, the site allows visitors to get a feel for the personable care and belonging of Gilda’s Club North Texas through compassionate care.
